FEBRUARY 7, 2016 - ST. GEORGE HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENTS

Greeting Officials,

Steve Bingham the Rec Director down in St. George contacted me this last weekend and asked if I would make sure that he had umpires for his two High School tournaments in March.  I wanted to make sure that if officials wanted to go that everyone was given the opportunity.  I also wanted to put it in the arbiter so people new that they were assigned and confirmed. The first is on Mar 11th and 12th and then the second is Mar 18th and 19th.  All officials must be high school registered and in the arbiter, which means that you have to have the test completed with an 80% score and then clinic attended.  If you are not yet registered and ready, then please do it ASAP and then email me your preference of weekends.  I will start by getting you 1 weekend unless we have empty spots.  I do need to know if you are available both weekends.  Steve is going to let me know how many umpires will be needed this next week.

If you are in St. George I will be the contact for you also to get on this tournament.  Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with your preferences or you can call Phil 801-372-0594 or Becky Cappadonia 801-372-3378 with questions or concerns.

For those of you doing ASA and wanting to attend a School the first of 2 will be on Mar 5th and then Mar 19th with a special guest Malcolm Boyles the ASA Deputy Directors of Umpires in the Western Territory.  So on the 19th we have a school and the St. George Tournament so if you want to have both attend the Mar 5th School in Orem and get your evaluation.

If you get this message more than once I am sorry, it because you are both a high school umpire and an ASA umpire.

Thank You, Phil Cappadonia

FEBRUARY 5, 2016 - High School Softball Info

We are quickly approaching the start of the high school softball season.  Just a few things to keep in mind, all of the registration process must be completed before you will show up in the arbiter to be assigned games.  What that means is that you will had to have completed the Registration on the UHSAA portal that mean paid in full.  You will had to have either attended the State Clinic that was on 2/2/2016 or take it online starting on 2/9/2016 and have a certificate of completion.  And lastly you had to have taken and passed the Part I test online that is already available and closes, I was told on 3/16/2016.  That being said we will start games in all areas as early as 3/7/2016.  That means we will need you and so plan on getting the test completed as soon as you can so it is not holding us up from using you and possibly having games go with less than the 2 Umpire System.

Some other dates to remember:

Part II test is open from 3/23/2016 – 4/6/2016 for those that want to be considered for post season games.

The dates are as follows:
Feb 22, Mar 7 (games start), Mar 21, Apr 11, Apr 25 (Party/BBQ).

South Area Meetings – They will be held at Mt. View High School at 5:30 PM Cafeteria.
The dates are as follows:
Feb 22, Mar 7 (games start), Mar 28, Apr 11, Apr 25 (Party/BBQ).
